The Etsy Vintage Team proudly welcomes one of our newest members Kate from Kateblossom!

 Kate brings new meaning to taking the old and making it new. Her up-cycle clothing creations are truly one of a kind masterpieces! Each item Hand-died, Hand-sewn, and embellished with fine vintage linens, lace, and/or buttons. Each selection tells a whimsical tale and perhaps peers into Kate's very own childhood dreams. You cannot help but to stop and smell the proverbial roses while browsing her shop. It sparks your own imagination (which is just fine with her). Shes happy to work together with her shoppers & help them create a custom masterpiece.

Meet Kate the owner and creator of Kateblossom! 

"Hi Sweet Friends! I am Kate and I live in North California with my dear Husband. I love to create unique, earthy, ethereal, sometimes edgy, carefree, fun, country, chic, farm, bridal, ranch, cottage clothes for women and children.. casual, yet with a touch of elegance. I love God, and his Son Jesus, His Word....and pleasing him every day is my goal. What a blessing that he is our creator. "

"Etsy has been a way for me to use my own creativity. I have always loved Vintage Things, even when I was a little girl at my Grandmothers house. I loved visiting Thrift Stores as a child. I find thrill in taking thrifted or handed down clothing and making them into something new. I also enjoy using bits and pieces of things, kind of like making a collage with clothing. Old lace and lots of different fabrics, buttons and other textiles go into my creations."

Fabric Art isn't Kate's only talent... 

She enjoys reading, cooking and an array of outdoor activity. All seemingly inspirations for her creations. She has recently written a Historical Fiction picture book that her husband illustrated, and it will be published this Summer!

Vintage Modern Stacked Acrylic Table Lamp

LiseVintageLighting is a lovely shop with a unique selection of vintage lighting. Susan refurbishes and updates a variety of vintage lamps, lighting and candle holders dating from the 1940s-1980s. "Whenever possible, I love to learn and share with my customers the story behind a design or its designer, the craftsmanship responsible for elevating a piece, the cultural history that makes a particular style or fixture iconic." LiseVintageLighting opened in November of 2009 and is based out of Dallas, Texas.

Cabinwindows specializes houseware and home decor with a farmhouse or primitive style. Patti says she "started collecting antiques to decorate my home. My mom HATES antiques so she sold or threw out all the family stuff-argh... I tend to pick items that remind me of my childhood, or that just have a great "feel" to them." Cabinwindows is based out of Colorado Springs, Colorado and opened shop in June of 2009.

TheCornerStoreBK offers a wide range of antique and midcentury lighting, interior design pieces, and home decor. Benjamin says: "I strive to offer unique treasures and thoughtful gifts. I am an architect / designer that sells a combination of architectural salvage and vintage decor that I use in my own design studio which focuses on traditional design and sustainability." TheCornerStoreBK opened in October of 2010 and is based out of Brooklyn, New York.

EyeForVintage focuses mainly on vintage clothing from 1920s-1980s. Hannah says, "I'm a 27 year old vintage fashion and history enthusiast. I love the stories things carry with them through the years and I love how much quality and care went into making them. I have so much fun searching for the items in my shop, although it is not usually easy!" EyeForVintage opened in November of 2009 and is based in Michigan.

Evaelena specializes in vintage gift ideas, mid-century and recycled gifts, home wares, jewelry, fashion, accessories and supplies. Eva's shop philosophy: "I make recycled jewelry out of vintage things and collect vintage and antique objects that are original and interesting or stylish. My taste is pretty varied - and I am attracted to good design and beautiful craftsmanship regardless of era as well as quirky, humorous things and things that resonate with me emotionally. As a repository of things that I love to collect and make, my etsy shop is a kind of embodiment of my personality!" Evaelena is based out of Sydney, Australia and opened in November of 2010.

OhDearWatson is a lovely little shop which was opened in July of 2010 by newlywed couple Cody and Amanda. They offer a nice selection of kitchenware and decor, featuring some nice milk glass pieces. Their pieces range mainly from the 1950's to the 1970's

AppleJar is the combined efforts of mother daughter team Shirley and Lisa. Both are artists by trade, Shirley is a sculptor and Lisa is a jeweler. "...We also love those things of old -- those great vintage and antique things that have stood the test of time. Admittedly, we have what we laughingly call 'the vintage gene.' This is a condition where neither of us can pass up a beautiful old thing." AppleJar opened shop in August of 2009 and is based out of Nevada.

KentonCollectibles has a little bit of everything a vintage collector could want. They specialize in antiques, oddities and hilarities with an emphasis on ephemera and machine age wonders. Also available is a beautiful selection of vintage jewelry including some fabulous rhinestone brooches. They are based out of Portland, OR and have a Brick & Mortar shop there as well.

The women’s selection ranges from party dresses and career wear to beachwear and also include accessories and shoes. Rita’s passion for clothing started at a young age, “as a little girl, I used to beg my mother to save the beautiful dresses she wore for me. She would laugh and tell me I would never want ‘those old things’ when I was old enough to wear them. She never guessed that those lovely 1950's fashions would be one of my life's greatest passions!”

Based in San Diego, CA this Etsy shop was opened in October of 2009 but they have been in business for decades. On offer is a wide variety of dresses including a wonderful selection of Sun Dresses and Party Dresses. AnnLloydAntiques offers an eclectic mix of vintage and antiques. This West Michigan based couple opened their Etsy shop in November of 2008 but have been "antique dealers and partners in the 'art of collecting' for quite awhile now." Both feel "very fortunate to have a life partner who also loves antiques." Their items range from a large Louis XV Parlor sofa to two small carved bone rings. Jessica "loves vintage and antique ephemera, paper and sewing stuff like buttons and ribbon." She is based in Oregon and started her shop in December of 2008. FineVintageLinen is aptly named as this shop offers up a wonderful selection of vintage linens and quilts. This Etsy shop was opened in October of 2008 but as Yvonne says in her profile "it all began innocently enough... many years ago, I decided to scale back an abundant collection of vintage pillowcases and listed them on an internet auction site.
