Based out of Denver, Colorado, GlassPanic offers a lovely selection of vintage house wares and home décor including some nice silver serving pieces and Pyrex dishes. The shop is run by Amy and Jeff who describe themselves as “amateur vintage hunters.” “We love finding new pieces and love the history associated with each piece.”
Vintage Miniature Die Cast Cars-Old Timers
KentonCollectibles has a little bit of everything a vintage collector could want. They specialize in antiques, oddities and hilarities with an emphasis on ephemera and machine age wonders. Also available is a beautiful selection of vintage jewelry including some fabulous rhinestone brooches. They are based out of Portland, OR and have a Brick & Mortar shop there as well.
FireflyVintage is a beautiful vintage clothing shop. On offer is a wide selection of women’s clothing as well as some men’s and children’s clothing. The women’s selection ranges from party dresses and career wear to beachwear and also include accessories and shoes. Rita’s passion for clothing started at a young age, “as a little girl, I used to beg my mother to save the beautiful dresses she wore for me. She would laugh and tell me I would never want ‘those old things’ when I was old enough to wear them. She never guessed that those lovely 1950's fashions would be one of my life's greatest passions!”

Vintage Buzz: Red Hot Metal

Vintage metal doesn't have to be rusty, dinged and dented (although some of us LOVE it that way too!) - if you are patient, you can find well-cared for pieces still adorned in their original bright paint and enamel. Whether you make a jello mold, serve homemade goodies, create a powerful brew or just hang it on the wall for good looks, vintage metal is a RED HOT commodity both for home decor and vintage inspired home cooking.
These vintage Danish Metal Trays With Rosewood Handles from Kitsch Cafe make a cheerful statement, whether serving friends or set around the house as little catch-alls.
Make a potent brew or a savory sauce in this vintage Red Enamel Turkish Coffee and Sauce Pot from Dandelion Girl.
This gorgeous Tin  Toleware Tray from Callooh Callay is the perfect touch of vintage for a shabby chic decor.

Welcome New Member: A Bit of Butter

Decorating your home with fabulous vintage is as easy as a visit to A Bit of Butter of Seattle. This relatively new, but already popular Etsy shop features mid century kitchen and home accessories, as well as "vintage electronics for the steampunk aficionado and the technologically inclined."

The beautiful photos alone are worth a visit, and I was struck particularly by this Danish Modern copper coffee pot with creamer. Yummy, isn't it?

Welcome to the Etsy Vintage Team! We're so pleased to have A Bit of Butter join us.

Welcome New Member: Cowgirl Caities

Imagine a very old storefront, perhaps a wood-floor general store, virtually unchanged since the 19th Century. In the 21st Century, it's jam packed with antiques and oddities from days gone by. That's what a visit to Cowgirl Caities is like, an online emporium of 500 rare and beautiful treasures.

Her fare includes English antiques, kitchenware, toys, ephemera, metal bits and bobs--coming from homes in the backwoods of Wisconsin and London's East End, where Caitie and her father have been joyfully been collecting for years. It is impossible to choose one representative item, but these spectacular opera glasses caught my eye first (worth the visit for the wealth of information included in her listing).

And let's all wish Caitie a very happy (and lucky!) birthday coming up one week from today: on 10-10-10! It's going to be a very special day!

Foodie Friday --- B is also for BANANAS

MMMMM...BANANAS.  So sweet, so portable, so packed with nutrition!!!  What's not to like?

25 facts about BANANAS

You can eat them as is, slice them and add to cereal, dessert, or pancakes...Or, you can bake some BANANA BREAD.

Kitchen utensils from Lagelle

Yummy Banana Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 or 4 SUPER ripe bananas, mashed with a potato masher
  • 1/3 cup salad oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • LG Pinch of salt
  • cinnamon and nutmeg to taste (optional)
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour, sifted

Method

No need for a mixer for this recipe. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). With a wooden spoon, mix oil into the mashed bananas in a large mixing bowl. Mix in the sugar, egg, and vanilla. Sprinkle the baking soda, salt and (optional) spices over the mixture and mix in. Add the flour last, mix well, but gently. Pour mixture into a greased and floured (I use PAM for baking) 5x9 inch loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes, until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on a rack. Remove from pan and slice to serve.

I also make an AMAZING tropical banana - pineapple bread   Send me a message if you would like the recipe!
