Fenton Silver Crest

Fenton Hobnail Shoe & Vase
by TreasureHuntVintage

One of the most renowned and prolific art glass companies in America, the Fenton Art Glass Company can trace it's beginning back to 1905, and today is 106 years old.  Founded by 2 brothers in Ohio, Frank L. Fenton & John W. Fenton, The Fenton Art Glass Company faced closure in 2007, but experienced a huge revival by stout collectors, and today, along w/Blenko, remains one the last US glass houses in operation.

With a incredibly wide rage of styles and decorations to choose from, and a strong history behind it, Fenton Art Glass appeals to a huge audience of collectors.  Couple that w/the fact that Fenton Art Glass is hand-made, and thus, no two pieces are alike, the company can claim some of the most loyal collectors in the industry.

As a closet milk glass-a-holic, one of my personal favorite lines is Silver Crest.  Fenton Silver Crest is milky white in base and finished w/a clear, crimped rim.  Offering several different decorations, including Spanish Lace and Violets in the Snow - Fenton Silver Crest commands a strong presence on the table, especially during the holidays.  I have 3 tidbits that I use during the holidays to display hors d'oeuvres and sweets.  I use a 3 tiered tidbit as the centerpiece and flank it w/two 2 tiered tidbits.  To add a little pizazz to my table, I use a Silver Crest Spanish Lace for mints and the such.

Both of my grandmothers collected Fenton, so I grew up surrounded by some amazing pieces (I always loved silvercrest too, even before I knew what it was!). Now I'm an avid Fenton collector- I can never pass it up!

Great post! I am fortunate to have a Silver Crest vase handpainted by Charleton with their signature roses. It's in my Flickr photostream here
