Postcards from France VII: The Doors of Provence

I wonder if these French people know how lucky they are to live behind these dreamy doors.

Which is your favorite door?

Door Number 1, the dreamy blue number with natural ivy valance?

Door Number 2, the layered look with beautiful stencil topper?

Number 3's whimsy and bold strokes?

Or our last candidate, Door Number 4 with it's massively beautiful stone portico, and stately walnut carved doors?
My buddy, Miryam, our two beaux, and I went to visit the glorious village of Bormes-les-Mimosas in Provence. Miryam started snapping these beautiful doors as we took on our proménade around the village.
If my magic wand worked the way it's supposed to, I'd wave it and Door Number 4 would be mine. I'd love to know your pick.

Love this post. I went to Italy in the Summer, visiting Rome, Venice and Falerone, I was obsessed with all the wonderfully old doors... I took hundreds of pics and blogged about them when I returned! :D

Gorgeous photos! I came back from England some years ago and painted our door that color blue. But I wonder what it would look like with carved stone all around it...

Abbie - you're not kidding with your hundreds of photos. Your post is fabulosa and the doors are so gorgeous.

Calloocallay - great that you took the color inspiration back home from England. That's a message I'm hoping to bring to my posts: how to use these old lovely looks and incorporate them into our décor. You could do that with doors 1 & 3, and even stencil maybe a back door like in 2.

I'm loving the beautiful blue door! When I visited Provence years ago I became enamoured with the lovely blue doors and shutters in Martigues and Aix. All the doors are beautiful - it is wonderful how even the shabbiest door becomes inviting with a coat of brightly hued paint!
