For the price of one designer handbag, you could purchase this entire collection! The designer’s mega-corporation won’t notice, but six small businesses you will be patronizing certainly will. And you will have a bevy of bags for all seasons and all occasions. Best of all, each is one-of-a-kind with a story to tell…if only these purses could talk!

FOODIE FRIDAY -- H is also for HONEY

Ah, honey. So sweet. So pure. Quite amazing, really. It takes on different flavors and coloration depending on the locale and flower from which it is derived. It is revered the world over for its health benefits, and has been used as everything from a poultice to a sweetener for thousands of years.

Cool link for interesting HONEY factoids and trivia:

Some additional information AND a host of recipes using HONEY:

I found a few cool HONEY and BEE related items in our member's Etsy shops:

HONEY JAR from Moon Over Marilyn

RING from Haute Country Vintage

COAT TRIM from Design Archives

Hope your NEW year is as sweet and rich as, well... HONEY!

Welcome New Member: Moon Over Marilyn

Have you ever enjoyed just wandering through an antique shop, lingering to study the details of something you have never seen before? If so, you will really enjoy a visit to Moon Over Marilyn from Denver. It's the epitome of eclectic! Here you will find a bit of everything, from clothing to kitchenware, books to home decor.

There's a hint of a theme of Mexican and Southwest--the tooled leather purses are to die for--but I am enamored with this adorable grouping of baby shower items. What a sweet and unique gift this ideas book, glass bottles and vintage invitations would make!

Stop in to browse Moon Over Marilyn and you will see why we are pleased to have this shop join the Etsy Vintage Team!

Vintage Buzz: Red Hot Metal

Vintage metal doesn't have to be rusty, dinged and dented (although some of us LOVE it that way too!) - if you are patient, you can find well-cared for pieces still adorned in their original bright paint and enamel. Whether you make a jello mold, serve homemade goodies, create a powerful brew or just hang it on the wall for good looks, vintage metal is a RED HOT commodity both for home decor and vintage inspired home cooking.
These vintage Danish Metal Trays With Rosewood Handles from Kitsch Cafe make a cheerful statement, whether serving friends or set around the house as little catch-alls.
Make a potent brew or a savory sauce in this vintage Red Enamel Turkish Coffee and Sauce Pot from Dandelion Girl.
This gorgeous Tin  Toleware Tray from Callooh Callay is the perfect touch of vintage for a shabby chic decor.

Foodie Friday -- C is for CHEESE

Say CHEESE!!!  Cheese can come from cow's, goat's or even sheep's milk.  So many incarnations, so many possibilities.  A classic grilled cheese, as is -- on a platter with ubiquitous crackers (and maybe some fruit), melted and gooey in nachos, grated into lasagna or atop your Pizza.  AAAHHHH, bless, thee CHEESE.

Everything you ever wanted to know about CHEESE (or not)

No recipe this week, as I am sure you all have many favorite ways to say CHEESE!  :~)  Do check out these cool vintage CHEESE RELATED finds....courtesy of the etsyvintageteam!
