I'm one of those people who love vintage gadgets, tools and mechanical things; even a trip to a modern-day hardware store will keep me happily occupied for hours. I also love vintage buttons--a lot, and today's featured shop, '11Karri' is a real treat to write about. 11Karri has a little of everything: kitchenware, household and office items, toys and oddities, as well as a great selection of vintage clothing, accessories and jewelry. And buttons.
One of my favorite things from the 11Karri shop is above: an old 'Protectograph' check writing machine, in great shape. 11Karri has so many neat gadgets that I made a collage of them below, just to give you an idea of the many cool things you can find there. Pictured are a very cool 'Handy Hannah" hair dryer; vintage clocks in Bakelite, wood and plastic; a Rival 'Juice-o-Mat' juicer; atomic style bullet-shaped ice cream maker; a 1950s Sawyer Viewmaster and a great early 20th century Brownie camera by Kodak.




11Karri also carries a wide variety of vintage clothing and jewelry! Here are just a few examples: A beautifully tailored 3-piece wool suit by Gaynes; a great Shagmoor coat with a mink collar, a light grey checked polyester jacket, pretty plastic leaf earrings, Sarah Coventry brooch with glass 'stones' and an unusual artisan-made ceramic elephant brooch and earrings set.

An Elegant Junk Shop

One of the most eclectic vintage shops I’ve visited lately is 11Karri, a fabulous mixture of clothing, toys, housewares, home décor, tools--you name it. As the banner states, it’s an “elegant junk shop” (though with a few exceptions in the category titled "Parts/Tools/Rusty Stuff," the vintage items in her shop are far from junk).

We asked Jul Ann, the owner of 11Karri, to tell us a little bit more about herself, her family, and her business.

Person-Wife-Mother-Grandmother-Artist-Friend-Collector-Child of Mother Earth. But call me Jul Ann. Don't hold my age against me. I deserve every gray hair on my bod, and look forward to getting older every day...every hour…every breath.

In the Atomic 50s I was raised on a cattle ranch in the Northern Nebraska sandhills, up by the fast white waters of the Niobara River—a real river rat, cowgirl, hippie! I sold on eBay for around 7 to 8 years as 11karri, but now I’m just on Etsy, and I love the artsy culture.

All my life I have loved art, or music, and anything vintage or antique. I have an interest in so many things! Vintage women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing, as well as bones and Victorian or Edwardian lace and satin. I can spend mind-boggling amounts of time with old buttons, small plastic toys, or fun rusty old metal pieces if they have a cool shapes.

My natural family is many shades of color—African, Cree, Irish; we are all American. So from shades of winter white to red freckles, rich black satin to creamy tan, and red clay to soft sunset. Mmmm??? Maybe that is why I have a wide range of items and interests in my store.

My family helps me with the shipping now. Because of illness the sunlight hurts my eyes, so I am now what I like to call Owly. LOL.

My husband is working on a new line of belt buckles, and I have been doing assemblage art (so fun!). We will have them for sale soon also.

With all that said, ETSY ROCKS! I hope you may see a little something your favor in the shop. How cool is it that we on Etsy can make a little money to pay bills and play with the items we love. Add the fact that you get to convo with people who love the same things from all over the world....

It may be sweltering now but in just a couple of months it will be brisk Fall nights and this lovely faux fur hat from 11karri will be the height of style!

Shades of Brown, tan and Light brown, good condition, the designer tag fell off, but this is a wonderful 60's Mod Hat. I show it with different head size models because it truly changes the look of the Hat the inside brim meas. 20 1/2 in. So smaller it looks like a 20's bucket hat, or med it's higher on your head, for more of a hip-hop feel, tuck your hair into the hat.

Sadly, we all have to work year round - including in the sweltering Summer heat. But make sure you still look beautifully put together with this gorgeous baby blue dress suit from 11karri. Perfect for the office or even vamp it up for a Summer wedding. Mix and match the jacket - lots of possibilites with this beauty.

Excellent condition,has no holes or stains ,only flaw the belt is missing,it has been worn but very good vintage.This is Quite lovely ans Fabulously cut and make.By Slimaker Original.metal zipper on the side and the front top has Sexy peek a-boo cut outs.The chest meas. from laying flat from armpit to arm pit.19 1/2" and would fit a 33" to 36" best.. tight 38",The frabric is cotton with a soft light print of flowers on baby blue, the jacket has bows and lucite buttons.The dress from arm pit to arm pit on back is also 19 1/2".the wasit is 26 1/2".Hips are 40"and from waist to hem meas.37 1/2".

Mad for plaid? This super cute classic red plaid hat from 11karri is just what you need! The shape is kind of a cross between a bucket and a fedora but it's all stylish. Classic yet trendy, it's sure to be a favorite in your closet.
